National Environmental Organizations Endorse Deb Haaland for Governor of New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— A pair of national environmental and public interest organizations today announced their endorsements of Deb Haaland for governor of New Mexico.
As a member of Congress, Deb Haaland worked to expand clean energy and protect federal lands in New Mexico. As secretary of the Interior in the Biden administration, Haaland moved to protect people and public lands throughout the West, setting protections for New Mexico’s Chaco region, Pecos watershed and many others.
“Deb Haaland has a long history of working to protect public lands and wildlife in New Mexico,” said Kierán Suckling, president of the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “She’s a leader who can stand against the Trump attacks on the lands, water and wildlife that are so important to the people and communities of New Mexico.”
“Climate Hawks Vote is proud to stand with Deb Haaland for governor,” said RL Miller of Climate Hawks Vote. “After all, we endorsed her for Congress in 2018 and for Secretary of the Interior in 2021. She'll fight for public lands and against the polluters worming their way into New Mexico politics.”
The Center Action Fund is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for legislation and legislators that will advance a progressive environmental agenda. The Center Action Fund is the 501(c)(4) affiliate of the Center for Biological Diversity, but these organizations’ names are not interchangeable. This news release is from the Center Action Fund, not the Center for Biological Diversity.
